- Bug has been identified as being a problem with the server. The command

-
- fails. Basically, I am just trying retrieve the header of the article with
- no message lines. I'll go back and check the RFC to see who's wrong.

- Subject: Mosaic - Sound - Media Player
-
-
- Can someone tell me why the Windows Media Player pops up whenever Mosaic begins
- to play a sound file? The Media Player gives me the following error and then
- hangs.
-
- Cannot determine the device type form the given filename extension
-
- I originally did associations for .au and .wav files using Windows Setup but I
- have since taken that off. My file manager refuses to make directories and
- delete directories. I wonder if this is the problem? When I input au and wav
- extensions in the associations procedure, the procedure gives me (none). I
- must have done something to the mosaic.ini file because wplany/speaker work
- outside of Mosaic. Could someone please help?
-

- I just tried ntalking to someone who is not logged in and it worked fine.
- WinTalk simply returns a message telling me that the person I'm trying to talk

- How many open socket connections can winsock handle? Is it left to
- the winsock implementor? I know that winsock.h has a default of
- 64. But does it depend on the individual tcpip stack? For
- example on the Novell stack, I cannot complete more than 6
- connections. It says no more buffer space error. Do all stacks
- have some setting related to this that is configurable?
-
-
- Also, Is it a good or bad design to have , say 100 connections,
- always open at all times? especially with respect to using
- a pc based tcp-ip stack.
-
- Any help would be greatly appreciated. ( By the way, am using
- all async. socket calls and no blocking ones).
-
- Goutham.
-
- Most winsock will give you at least 16 socket, You can check the WSADATA
- return from WSAStartup() to see how many MAY be available. With Lan Workplace
- you will need to set the tcp_sockets member of the Protocol TCPIP section to
- get more than 6 sockets. But remember, it only will handle 32 at best, and it
- allocates tcp sockets first. So if you configure for 32 or greater tcp sockets
- you will not get any udp sockets.

- Subject: CryNwr send_pkt under DPMI (Windows 3.1)
-
- Hi,
-
- I am trying to install a customized protocol over UDP/IP tunnel,
- all included in a COMM.DLL under Windows, just like WinSock!
- I have done the following already:
-
- (1) Allocate Real Mode Call back routine for the CryNwr packet driver
- call back function in AccessType().
-
- (2) Allocate DosGlobalMemory for buffers passed to Real Mode CryNwr
- packet driver.
-
- (3) Uses DPMI provide Real Mode Interrupt call to pass software
- Interrupts to CryNwr driver.
-
- I can watch Driver_Info() passed back valid results like DIX class!
-
- I can receive ARP response back under the CryNwr call back, & get
- IP->EtherNet addresses resolved OK!
-
- ** But in order to send the ARP request out, under DPMI service interrupt
- to CryNwr Driver, I have to follow up with a dozen of Windows _lwrite
- calls even with 1 byte to a file!
-
- Without those dummy calls after the CryNwr send_pkt function under DPMI
- will not send the packet out on the LAN
- ( I have LANwatch to watch it coming)
-
- How to make send_pkt() works under DPMI, without those dummy _lwrite
- Windows 3.1 call()??? Or what side effects these dummy _lwrite cause
- to enable the CryNwr send_pkt()?
-
- Thanks for any INFO!
